At Heaton we are committed to a learner-centred relationship. It is our intention to share a range of information with you from across the New Zealand Curriculum, in a variety of ways. The platform we use to achieve this is Hero, an online electronic reporting portal.

Hero allows teachers, parents, and students access to learning achievement in a secure, easy, and effective way. Reporting on Hero is designed to build year on year so that over time you will have access to comments, learning assessments, images, video, and helpful resources in one place.

Learning posts

Throughout the year, class and specialist teachers will share learning posts related to current teaching and learning achievement from across the curriculum.

Achievement Level – mathematics, reading and writing

Twice a year (mid and end of the year) teachers will share your child’s current achievement level for mathematics, reading and writing with the next steps for learning. Learning conferences provide an opportunity for further elaboration.

Learning Conferences

Online content will be supported by face to face learning conferences, twice a year involving parents, students and teachers. This is an excellent time to discuss your child’s learning journey, social development and to set future goals. If you have any queries or concerns about your child at other times, please communicate with your child’s teacher.

Celebration of Learning

We provide a variety of meaningful contexts, formal and informal for students to share and celebrate their learning with whānau. Examples include assemblies, student workbooks, learning presentations or curriculum events such as speech competitions, market day, music appreciation concerts, or sporting events.
