Kia ora whānau

Today you can enjoy reading about your child’s learning progress posted by your child’s class teacher. This can be accessed using your Hero account; our online student management system. You can expect to see an update on your child’s current curriculum achievement in reading, writing and mathematics, illustrated in a progress chart. Further to this, a general learning post will describe your child’s attitude towards learning, social skills, school involvement and academic progress thus far.

In specialist subject areas (Technology: food, digital and hard materials, The Arts: visual and performing, Science, Physical Education and Te Reo Māori) learning information will be posted throughout the year, shortly after completion of these classes. Year 7 students will have completed 2 specialist rotations while Year 8 students have completed 1.

Progress Charts

Progress charts show:

  • The curriculum level your child is expected to be working within based on their school year level.

  • A description of how your child is progressing towards the school expectation and the level they are currently working within.

  • A chart showing your child’s progress over time. You can see the level each dot represents by clicking on it.

  • The blue section is considered ‘within’ our school expectation.

  • The yellow section indicates that the student is working ‘towards’ our school expectation.

  • The green section indicates the student is ‘above and beyond’ the school expectation.

  • The black line indicates your child’s progress over time. This line is not always a straight upwards line as each data point represents a large proportion of learning. Also, learning progress can differ for each student and in each learning area at different times of the year.

Hero Notifications

Following our migration from Linc-ed to Hero, there has been a change in how parents receive notifications when school communication is posted.

Parents now receive ONE form of notification when a community notice or learning post is published.

  • If you log into the Hero mobile app you will receive an in-app notification. If you log into Hero via a web browser you will receive an email notification.

  • If you have logged in on a phone and a tablet, you will get in-app notifications to both devices. If you log out of one device (e.g. your phone) you will continue to receive in-app notifications on the other device (e.g. your tablet). If you log out of both mobile devices you will receive an email notification.

  • If you have logged into the Hero mobile app previously but are currently logged out on all of your devices you will receive an email notification.

In all cases, the notification will direct you to log into Hero to view the full post.

You are also able to see any unread notifications in the Bell icon, located at the top right of your Hero screen when logged in.
