Kia ora whānau
Well, this is the very last day of the school year and for many students, families and whānau, the very last day as a member of our Heaton community.
Thank you very much to those of you who attended our Prize givings and who have supported our students and staff over the years you have been involved with the school. It is much appreciated.
Huge thanks to the members of the Board of Trustees and the PTA for their commitment and hard work for our school.
The big one for 2020 will be completing the master planning for the future Heaton Normal Intermediate School. This is a huge task but also very exciting. We will keep you posted through the year about how it is all going and seek feedback from you at particular points.
We are farewelling Helen Schulte and Alex Seales from our team. Both were in one year fixed term teaching positions. Thank you so much to both of them for their contribution to our school as colleagues and friends. Our very best wishes for the future in their new teaching positions.
We do not have any new staff in 2020 but we are very pleased to welcome back Abby Nattrass.
The classes, teachers and houses for 2020 is attached. Some students are moving to different classes but we would have already talked to you about this. We also have some new students joining Year 8 in 2020.
Class placements for Year 7 students, 2020 will be done by me in January. This is a long and complex task, as I do my very best to place students in the best possible learning environments for them.
It has been an extremely successful year with our students‘ outstanding achievements in a wide range of areas. It has also been a very sad one which has really tested our resilience but as a team we are stronger than ever. What an amazing team!
As I am sure you are, we are looking forward to a very relaxing holiday with our family and friends. For those of you who are moving on, our very best wishes for every success in the future and everyone else, we look forward to seeing you again next year.
