Pink Shirt Day

Five years ago in a small town in Canada, a boy wore a pink shirt to school and was bullied for his ‘girl like’ appearance. His classmates knew that this wasn’t right, so the next day they all wore pink shirts and stood up to the bullies. Now yearly, there is a national Pink Shirt Day to stand up against bullying. Last Friday, Heaton students and teachers wore pink to show their support. There was also a competition for best dressed in pink. Well done to Jade and Sarah from Room 3 who won this and created an original poem too! Thank you to everyone who participated in Pink Shirt Day. We are hoping to show our support again in 2017. A video of the class competition can be seen on the following You Tube clip.
