Last Tuesday 19th June we were lucky to be entertained by Poetry in Action.
Students were entertained by The Poet’s Quest, a time-travelling journey into the world of the bumbling Blake Williams. Here, we saw first hand, how poetry could help him win back his muse, Virginia and save the world!
We loved the energy of the actors and enjoyed hearing about their lives as performers. Another take away from this performance was about the importance of language and how it can transform our ability to communicate effectively, especially when romance is on the line!
Finally, for all our Heaton writers, I encourage you to submit your poems into the Poetry in Action Poetry Competition. It would be wonderful to see our talent shared throughout Australasia.
Poetry in Action is on the hunt for the next generation of poets and want students to send their poetry.
The overall winner will be selected from the monthly finalist poems and will:
1. Have their poem included in a Poetry in Action touring show alongside some of the world’s most revered poets and performed to an audience of over 75000 students.
2. Have their poem filmed and performed by our troupe and uploaded online.
3. Receive $500 cash prize. In addition, the poem that places second will be awarded $250 and the third place will receive $100.
Poets must be aged 18 and under to enter.
The submitted poem cannot be more than 30 lines long.
Write about whatever you want.
Original works only accepted and it must be written by the applicant. Simply fill out the form here and hit send to win!
