Heaton students have started a 12-week course of climbing instruction at the Roxx indoor climbing centre.
Climbing is catching on at Heaton! Our group of 29 Year 8 climbers have already begun scaling the heights at the Roxx during Tuesday Sport. We owe a huge thank you to our many families willing to help with transport and the wonderful people at Ross Galt Lock & Alarm Ltd., who help with the sometimes tricky parking in the area.
Students have been learning basic rope safety, including how to tie climbing knots, belay, and do buddy checks. They’re also learning the language of climbing’s grading system and doing some free climbing in “the cave.”
