Technology

Technology is increasingly recognised as a vital learning area in the New Zealand Curriculum. Today's curriculum provides students with technological language with which they need to become familiar, as well as providing skills to be innovative, creative and to show initiative. They also learn about teamwork, communication skills and the importance of contributing to the community, both socially and economically.

Students enjoy technology and high levels of engagement are evident in all technology rooms. Technology allows students to experiment and problem solve while operating within a structured framework. This year our technology rooms consist of:

                           Food and Fibre Technology
                           Wood Technology
                           Metals and Plastics Technology
                           Visual Arts
                           Science

Students rotate round these technologies for a series of 16 sessions and are assessed on their attitude, engagement and the skills they develop while attending that session.
